Hi everyone. I have 29 hours in since my last smoke. The quit coaches have been instrumental in helping me to have a plan for each day and helping to manage my stress and anxiety. I think if I can manage those things it’s going to be a huge help to me. Today I treated myself to some nice smelling hand lotion. That way I can enjoy smelling good and enjoy my improving sense of smell.

    Have a great smoke-free day!

    quitfriend,

It's awesome that you have lined up quit coaches to help you! It does take planning and you've got that going for you.

One thing that really helped me was thinking about the positive improvements of quitting, especially in the first 2 weeks.

Hand lotion is a great idea. Another poster here mentioned washing all their jackets and smelling the fresh scent on them.

    Hi quitfriend!

I'm happy you are getting back on the "quit train"!

I love the idea of treating yourself to some nice smelling hand lotion … great idea! I did a similar thing and purchased a small bracelet made of lava stones. I then put essential oils on the stones and the scent lasts for several days. Lavender is a huge hit for me … its very calming and when the thought of smoking crosses my mind I just take a huge breath and I feel so much better.

    Whatever works, work it!!

I hope you have a great day!

Thanks for the suggestions atp. I’ll keep watching for the benefits. One benefit that I was just about giddy over last night is that it was snowing and blowing here and I didn’t have to go outside. I’m going to take your advice and wash my jackets too. That’s a good idea.

Well it has been 3 days, 2 hours and 45 minutes since I quit. Lol. There have been times of craving but also really good times where I’m grateful that I don’t have to do that anymore. Yesterday was a tough day but I practiced deep breathing, drank water and made it through. I also remind myself why I am quitting: for my health and my future, for my time with family, to be free from the cycle of addiction and to save money for much more important and enjoyable stuff.

    Grateful to be smoke-free,
    quitfriend

Who's it going. Hand lotion is great. Good luck on your journey. I found, initially that taking baths/showers was also great. I'm buying a stress ball today, hopefully that works. Try to stay distracted, if you can.

It’s still going. Sometimes it’s good and sometimes it’s rough. The mornings can be tough for me so I delay getting out of bed. Not the best tool. I end up sleeping in and the craving is still there when I get up. It helps to talk about it though.

    Have a great smoke-free day.

Mornings were tough for me too. I get up early, usually 4:30 or 5:00 as it gives me a few hours of work without distractions, and I used to smoke and have coffee. When I quit it was hard at first. Then I decided to change my routine. I started to make breakfast, I'd sit down and read the paper, do a few stretching exercises, and then have a coffee. The new routine helped distract me, but it also helped me change into a healthier lifestyle.

Good idea atp. Tomorrow I am going to make some simple changes to my morning routine and see how that goes. I was thinking I had to change it big time and couldn’t bring myself to do that. I’m thinking I’ll start by reviewing my reasons to quit, then clearing my mind with some meditation followed by some stretches. This combination seems to have helped me this afternoon.

Have a great smoke-free day everyone.
