I am here only because I joined this website 10 years ago April 12th.
If there’s one ray of hope I can offer it is - you will forget all about cigarettes and often wonder why? Why on earth was I that obsessed with having cigarettes on me at all times?
I did learn all about the power of addiction and am, perhaps, a more compassionate person because of the knowledge gained.
I am in awe of people who continue to take up the battle. I thank Champix, my wonder drug that provided the most vivid dreams of my life time; I once woke up stamping a cigarette out with the force of my whole body, one that I had lit in my dream of course!
I salute everyone of you, regardless of where you are...joining this group is a choice to live.

    Genesis!

I was here 10 years ago when you started. How lovely to see your familiar name back on the forums for this most special anniversary! I

I think when we face set backs, challenges and still  push forward, we learn so much about ourselves and others. It  is so true genesis that we learn to be more compassionate and understanding. I think we can also truly appreciate the immensity of this achievement more fully.

What can one say about reaching 10 YEARS!!?

Genesis, please accept our congratulations, and thank you so much for remembering the community and coming on to inspire.

It can be done, it does get better! WOW!

    Hi genesis,

    What an awesome anniversary!  Congratulations!

You wonder why we obsessed about having cigarettes with us at all times.  It is because we were physically, mentally and emotionally addicted to them.  I was so badly addicted that I always bought my smokes by the carton.  I never wanted to have only one pack at home.  That thought was just too scary to me.  And thinking about quitting made my hands break out into a sweat.

But what happened?  I finally decided enough was enough, and it was time to change my life.  And with the help of this site, I quit cold turkey over three years ago.  And it was the best thing I ever did for myself.

I am so glad you were successful and that you are celebrating your 10th anniversary.  Congratulations genesis, and I hope you have many more anniversaries to come!

    Genesis,

10 Years - that is such a great anniversary to be enjoying.

I like how you said "you will forget all about cigarettes and often wonder why"

I quit 16 months ago after 30 odd years of smoking. Never thought I could do it, yet here I am.

And you know that I don't miss smoking anymore. And now I find I don't like the smell of smokers anymore either.

It is standing on the shoulders of giants that I could see through to quitting.  A big Thank You to you all those who quit and gave inspiration to help us new quitters coming along after.
