    Hi
i’ve been dealing with a bad headache and grumpiness these last 2 days.  Every other time that I quit and i got to this statue, I started smoking again.  It’s almost like all the strength and willpower I’ve used over the past month is completely exhausted and I just need a break from the “fight”.  I know smoking isn’t the break I need and I am resolved to not smoke again but I wish it was easier!

    Hi Sammy,

You're right that smoking isn't the break you need! You've fought this hard over the past month because you don't want to smoke anymore, after all!

This could be a good day to sit down with yourself and revisit and renew your reasons for quitting. After a month you might also already be noticing some benefits from not smoking; this could be a good time to highlight those as well!

It may also be helpful to consult with a pharmacist. There are ways to lessen those withdrawal symptoms so you can feel more like your usual chipper self!

Now that you're here with us, also please keep in mind that we're here to back you up during those moments when your willpower may be at low ebb. And please know that this will get easier, as long as you continue to take good care of yourself by not smoking again.

Congratulations on your success so far, and wishing you continued success!

    Sammy,

I quit January 01, 2019. Just over a year ago.

I can tell you I struggled for the first month, then I had some hard days for the next few months, and then I had a hard time learning how to be a non-smoker, now I have a hard time relating to who I used to be.

This is the addict in your head fighting you every step of the way. But is does get easier.

Do you really want to start over again with all the nicotine withdrawal? I bet you don't.

So you'll need to fight through this a bit, but there is a reward.

    ATP,

This reminds me of something I recently heard:

"To get over it, you have to go through it."
