Welcome Andrew!
The first 24hrs can often be difficult, but it's the first WEEK that will get even harder, unless you have a good list of healthy distractions to pull from...
For example: It's a good idea to drink a LOT of water - way more than you'd usually drink. Always have plenty of cold water bottles in the fridge, ready for you!
Also: Mr. Freeze are one of those things that you can stick in your mouth whenever you feel a tough craving coming on. It'll satisfy the hand-to-mouth need, and you'll have a nice little sweet treat in the meantime.
A lot of people have suggested chewing up some small ice cubes. There are tons of suggestions that I've heard of over the years...Some will work for you - others will need something different for their specific QUIT.
Also, keep your hands busy...Doesn't matter if it's one of those fidget spinners, or petting a cat / dog. Whatever it takes to keep occupied.
Are you using any kind of 'stop-smoking aid' to help in your QUIT? (gum / lozenge / patches)
Some people find it much more difficult to quit cold turkey without some form of aid.
I'd love to hear more about your particular system for success...!
Your QUIT buddy, Jim.
