Hey y'all my name's Andrew and I just quit smoking today after smoking over a 25 pack day habit that started when I was 11. I am now 34 so that makes it 23 years. I am having some pretty hard cravings over the last 24 hours but my resolve is still there

    Welcome Andrew!

The first 24hrs can often be difficult, but it's the first WEEK that will get even harder, unless you have a good list of healthy distractions to pull from...
For example: It's a good idea to drink a LOT of water - way more than you'd usually drink.  Always have plenty of cold water bottles in the fridge, ready for you!

Also: Mr. Freeze are one of those things that you can stick in your mouth whenever you feel a tough craving coming on.  It'll satisfy the hand-to-mouth need, and you'll have a nice little sweet treat in the meantime.

A lot of people have suggested chewing up some small ice cubes.  There are tons of suggestions that I've heard of over the years...Some will work for you - others will need something different for their specific QUIT.

Also, keep your hands busy...Doesn't matter if it's one of those fidget spinners, or petting a cat / dog. Whatever it takes to keep occupied.

Are you using any kind of 'stop-smoking aid' to help in your QUIT? (gum / lozenge / patches)
Some people find it much more difficult to quit cold turkey without some form of aid.
I'd love to hear more about your particular system for success...!

    Your QUIT buddy, Jim.

Thanks for all the support folks I'm happy that I've quit. It's been over 24 hours since my last smoke and I feel fantastic for it. My quit plan was simple or so I thought. Just quit cold turkey and deal with the symptoms as they come. But I read a fantastic book on quitting smoking by a gentleman named Allan Carr. His book called easy way to stop smoking was immensely helpful I would recommend it to anyone

    Couldn't agree more Andrew...
I likely wouldn't have been able to quit without Alan Carr's EASYWAY book.
As a matter of fact, I have made every single version of it available on my ONLINE RESOURCES page:
    [ONLINE RESOURCES]

(I have the Audiobook / eBook / PDF / etc. etc.)
A MUST-READ for everyone looking to quit ...Enjoy!!!

Hi Andrew.  Your post about going cold turkey and reading the book was almost an echo of one of my very first post over 7 years ago!  That book was absolutely key in my success.  Welcome to being a non-smoker!  You've got this!
