One of the many benefits of quitting can be all of the extra time you gain. Most of us may not even realize how much we spent each day to smoke. Here's a simple way to do the math and see how much extra time you have for yourself, family, work, or other activities...

Number of cigarettes smoked per day X How long it took you to smoke a cigarette (mins) / 60 = number of hrs spent smoking per day

    eg. 12 X 8 / 60 = 1.6 Hrs spent smoking each day

What are you doing with all of your extra time?

Shopping, eating (sigh), and spending more time with friends.  Tomorrow I'm starting an exercise class.  And now that the weather is better, planning to do regular daily walks.

    great ideas turningpoint!

Not only does physical exercise help with cravings, but it can offset some of that increase in appetite (a normal withdrawal symptom).

    Thanks for sharing,

I'm enjoying making  new recipes and have signed up for a couple of half day cooking courses.  This satisfies not only my increased appetite, but also keeps me busier than usual and provides even more distraction as I'm focused on doing something new.  And yes, the increased physical exercise is a must for me!

    Hello Turningpoint,

Spring is so inspiring to spend the time exercising and cooking new recipes- using all the fresh produce this season brings.  Enjoy!
