Hi Brieffree, a big Congratulations are definitely in order for you! I can certainly relate to the lost and desperate feelings you talked about. That was me too! This helpline has made such a difference. As someone mentioned, as long as we go by N.O.P.E., we will be ok!! - m

    Good Evening Brieffree,

4 years without smoking that's amazing!

I hope you realize the magnitude of your success because it is not easy to stay smoke-free.
    Is this your longest attempt?

I wanted to share with you some information about health benefits after quitting in order to encourage you to remain smoke-free because 4 years without smoking it is not 4 days without smoking.

    After 1 year
One year after quitting smoking, a person's risk for coronary heart disease decreases by half. This risk will continue to drop past the 1-year mark.

Your next goal now is to reach 5 years without smoking
After 5 years, the body has healed itself enough for the arteries and blood vessels to begin to widen again. This widening means the blood is less likely to clot, lowering the risk of stroke.

Aside from the benefits, Brieffree remember to reward yourself for your progress. Rewarding is one of the most important things you can do to help yourself stay on track.

A very special thank you goes to you because you always take the time to share with other quitters on Smokers’ Helpline Online to encourage them.

    One year at a time!
