    Good Afternoon Everyone,

    What are you doing for yourself as you quit? What 'fun' are you bringing into your day to help cope with all the challenges of quitting? What activities, or hobbies, or distractions are working for you?

    Have you taken up painting, running, or yoga? We'd love to hear either what you are doing yourself, or what you've always wanted to try and maybe thinking about adding to your quit plan or do you have ideas to share for others how they can bring some joy, some fun and some distraction that feels good to their quit!

    i have picked up my penny whistle for the first time in a while
    it fits into my pocket and i can have it with me at all times
    my yoga teacher has been doing deep breathing with our group and that combined with no smoking has given me a longer blow on the whistle
    it is a pleasant pastime

    Hi decided,

    I must admit, I had to Google penny whistle as I wasn't to sure what the instrument was. And now I've stumbled onto some great Celtic music (just in time for St. Patrick's Day).

    I'm glad to hear that you have this pastime that you keep improving on thanks to quitting smoking. It's always nice when we get to experience the benefits of being smoke free.

    hi emily 
    this whole thing is starting to come together
    yoga for breathing and the pennywhistle which requires a long sustained breath
    right now i am working on increasing the number of notes i can do with one breath and count the seconds
    i am stuck at twelve seconds right now

    Hi Jennifer,

    I started googling what was at the museum when I quit, and went sometimes to distract myself.  Sometimes when we live in a city for so long (in my case, I have lived in Toronto all my life), you forget about places you have easy access to.  Museums and art galleries aren't only for tourists, though I will admit, they can be expensive to visit.  But if you think about what you spent on smoking, it makes it easier to justify visiting some of these places once in a while.

    Decided, can you please tell me, what is a penny whistle?  I have no idea.

    I LOVE this idea of exploring your city, going to museums, using some of the money saved to view art! What an awesome distraction and way to shift the focus from smoking - there is a whole wide world out there of things to try, places to visit and opportunities to grow!

    I think a penny whistle is a small whostle that plays a note and they use it in celtic music. It used to cost a penny back in the day, theybe been around for a long time ! It sounds fun
