HI Everyone, I'm new to the forums, today marks day 5 of quitting for me.  I am using Habitrol patches and gum.
    I have been smoking since I was 14 and I'm now 52.
Are night sweats and cold normal withdrawal symptoms?
good luck everyone together we can do this!!!

    Welcome Monab,

Congratulations on going ahead with your quit!

Some people experience cold like symptoms when they quit smoking. So what you are experiencing could well be part of the withdrawals. If at any point you have some concerns you should speak with your healthcare provider. Be kind to yourself through this process, your body is healing and repairing itself.

Have a nice smoke free day!

    Valerie

Hi Monab,  I've never heard of night sweats being related.  But when I get a bad cold, I sometimes get night sweats.

    Good morning monab

Congratulations on your quit.  You seemed well prepared with the NRT and this is great.  Keep on posting.  Well done!

    Hi monab,

I am just seeing your post now, as I was away.  Way to go, and I hope you keep it up!

I wouldn't worry too much about stuff like night sweats.  We all experience symptoms, some the same, some different.  I can't remember if I had night sweats, because I had difficulty even staying asleep for more than a few hours at a time!  My insomnia was horrible!  But oh well.  When you are fighting an addiction, it just makes sense that your body is going to rebel.  I would suggest that you just take it in stride for a while, until your body has time to adjust.

Just remember that ultimately, you are doing your body the greatest service you possibly can.  You are quitting smoking.  And that will be the best thing you can ever do for yourself.

    Good morning monab.

I was 1 of those people who got very physically  sick after... bronchitis, that turned into laryngitis. My sleep was terrible - I had the night sweats,  and body chills.  I was waking up at god awful hrs,  sometimes @ 5a.m - not cool!  I felt like a cartoon character with my body twitching and jerking in all directions... somedays, being so sick from quitting,  many times I thought 'my body is hurting  so bad from quitting smoking,  I should just start again so my body won't hurt so much'. At same time,  I was too sick to even smoke.. that's the addict in me.

Many of us have been long time smokers; I've been smoking for over 30yrs. Not all of us can quit and stay quit first time... this is my 4 time trying and my first time reaching 23 days!  We all have our  stories and experiences,  some are similar and comforting and some will have no relation to us.
We all have a desire to quit and to keep the quit and with that, that is ourt shared sameness. You will find someone on here who shares your story,  so keep coming back and sharing!
    Happy 😀  smoke free Friday

It's normal I quit a over a month ago and I still have the cold sweats from withdrawal when going from stage 2 patches to stage 1 patches. Actually haven't slept in 2 days as of right now because of how badly I've been sweating

    Hi greenbean,

Congratulations on being smokefree for one month! Quitting smoking is the best thing that you can do for your health. Withdrawal symptoms can be challenging, though. I am sorry to hear that you are still struggling. Should your symptoms persist, be sure to connect with your health care provider. Hope you are feeling better soon!
