Forget the mistletoe, the holly and the
Auld Lang Syne, Smokers’ Helpline is encouraging smokers to start their New
Year’s resolutions early. Sure, we told you that you should quit last January,
and we’ll probably tell you again, because it’s kind of tradition at this
point, but think about quitting now for some very good reasons:
Winter is coming
Yes, the season where you have
to go out into the bitter cold and snow to grab a smoke. If you get the jump on
quitting now, you can spend the winter toasty warm, or doing fun things outside.
It could net you $500
With the First Week Challenge
Contest, quitting for just a week (or longer) could win you one of two $500
prizes. How’s that for motivation? Visit FirstWeekChallengeContest.ca and
pledge to quit for the first week of November to enter…and if you don’t stay
quit, try again in December.
Have MORE New Years’
What’s better than an extra New
Year? ANOTHER extra New Year. Try to quit now, and if you don’t make it, you
can quit again! The more you quit, the better you get at it. It’s a learning thing
– even a day-long quit is enough to get you started. Give us a call and we can
help you get off on the right foot: 1-877-513-5333 (or, if you’re in Ontario,
call Telehealth at 1-866-797-0000).
It’s not January
Christmas bills, mid-winter
blahs, no more eggnog – do you really want to add quitting to that equation?
Right now the stress of
the holidays is months away. Why not make like the leaves and change? Only
without the falling out of a tree part. Picking a regular, routine day to quit
can increase your chances of success, so use the boring old Fall season to your
advantage.
