How about a message board? Cancel The title field is required!

   I took the liberty of creating a temporary message board. I think the concept will work, but members will have to delete there posts once replied to  and once there reply is acknowledged unless you want to scroll down to the bottom of the page. searching if anyone has asked a question of you. A new Message Board could have the newest ( members name and question) come up at the top making it much easier to use overall. 
   
   Another suggestion is if asking some questions, it may be helpful to know what if any Nrt they are using at the time.  When one says cravings, my question is which? Nicotine or psychological? I want to know what i should be experience in my situation, not one completely different. Some kind of chart where members info is there ( if members refuse and want that privacy that is fine, but I really don't know  why they would feel that way)   Quit date? prior to quit? NRT/ additional NRT.  I am trying to get something similar going with Let me introduce myself. I guess we see if their is an interest.

   Hi shazzan and welcome to the community.
   
   Thanks for your suggestions, but for now, I would ask you to please hold off on creating your message board. We are in the process of examining our current community management practices and addressing community needs, as well as a potential reorganization of the existing forums. We will take these suggestions under consideration as we do so.
   
   One improvement we had been considering was reversing the order of the forum thread postings so that the newest reply is always at the top of the thread. Do you feel this would help to address your first concern?

   It really would not be that much help, after all you can click "newest" at the bottom of the page.
   
   I started to reply here, but your question is not now available for me to see without going back by putting my back arrow..... yes i see the question.... but on pushing the forward arrow, what i started to type is gone. Very frustrating. 
   
   I have a question for a member who responded  on my post, yet on this site there is no way for him to know i asked a question, or to respond to him if a question directed to me had been asked. Since the Welcome board is erased after the first page (no other pages) I cannot know anything about him to give him a response specifically to his situation.  
   
   On ICANQuit  you are notified if someone make a comment on your page.  You can "folllow a member  through stories and posts they make.  You know when they started, what method if they divulged.  How can anyone compare with anyone else to know if it is the norm, or if another method seems to yield a better outcome.  At least there is SOME information. I have been here on this site longer but really know nothing much about them here.  I know more about the people of the other site in 2 days, than i do here in 2 weeks, or will in 2 years.
   
   All we can do here is greet the newcomers, support them to the best of our ability , but not really knowing their circumstances. Be sympathetic to others slips, cravings, etc.... 
   
   I take it that as coaches, you are notified, like you will be notified that i left you a reply.   We as  member have no such luxury.  Would be so cool to be like facebook where you could chat privately with someone, even if only to discuss everyday life to get their minds off a craving. An open forum to gain knowledge is also great. 
   
   And mudman was so right!  He couldn't respond to me.  I have no way to know he will see my response to him.   And as he complained this site is soooo slow.
   
   It does need an overhaul. Just my opinion of course.

   I appreciate your passion as well as your frustration in dealing with this system.
   
   A little history for you - this site has been around for about a year now, but it was a ground-up build intended to replace an aging system that had not received upgrades in a number of years. This was always intended as the first step in a larger project, and some compromises needed to be made in order to make the project happen both within budget and timelines. 
   
   I agree that this forum system is not as fully functional as we could hope. At launch, there weren't even user profile images, and there is still no ability to subscribe to threads, whether for you or for our team of Quit Coaches. We navigate the same way you do, by logging into the site and looking at each of the new threads and posts. There is still room for improvement, and we welcome your suggestions and priorities. however, we would ask that you provide them in the spirit of improvement, rather than simply criticizing what we have here, recognizing that it is a first step.
   
   Also, to clarify, I am not a Quit Coach. Part of my role includes leading the technical aspects of the website and I consult with our coaches regularly on any number of things related to the site.
   
   Finally, in response to a different comment, please note that while we are government-funded, each of us are employees of the Canadian Cancer Society. Each and every one of us is dedicated to using our training, the significant body of evidence behind us, and basic human compassion to help each and every person here to quit and stay quit in the hopes that you will never have to deal with tobacco’s long-term effects, including cancer. Please consider this before posting.

   Hi Kyle
   
   I just want to say a mighty thank you for the work yourself and the other team members do everyday.  You all are a major factor in the success of our quits.
   
   Personally, I immensely enjoy the format of the system and always look forward to logging in. Perhaps if others would prefer a different format that they experience elsewhere, they would be best to direct their efforts in that direction and let our forum evolve naturally.
   
   Again, a BIG thanks to yourself and all the quit coaches.
