    Hi Chartippybum,

Congratulations on your success. I am now at 22 days myself. When I have a craving I reach for water, a lozenge or a piece of gum. The four D's help me out a lot

Delay. The urge will pass whether you smoke or not.
    Deep breathe.
    Drink water.
Do something to take your mind off smoking.

I actually went to the hospital for heart surgery and do not want a repeat of that experience so take any momentary cravings calmly and peacefully knowing they will pass.

    Eagerquit

    Hi chartippybum,

Congrats to you for making it close to a month!  Way to go!

I remember having a hard time at the end of my first month.  Try to hang in there.  It should start to get significantly better soon.  Just think, you have done something truly amazing.  You quit smoking - yippee!  Just look at how hard you have worked and how far you have come.  You should be super proud of yourself.

Eagerquit is so right about the four Ds.  Follow that advice, and stick to NOPE, Not One Puff Ever.  And you are on your way to the most freedom you have experienced in a long, long time!

You can do it!  I sort of get what you are saying, because excitement can carry me away at times.  So just breathe through it and use all of your coping strategies.  I have to watch my money too, half goes for NRT, a quarter on inexpensive treats like coffee, chocolate, and an eyeshdow or nail stuff, and a quarter on a monthly layaway plan for a bike (my big treat).  I can't wait till I'm done NRT so I don't have to spend anything on nicotine anymore and have some long term savings for a rainy day!  Are you a reader?  Reading calms me down as I travel in my imagination outside of myself.

    Hello Chartippybum,

Congratulations to you on your one month quit, that is fantastic!  Indeed you have saved money and that is something to certainly rejoice about.

You shared that being at the one month mark, you are finding your cravings and withdrawal to be stronger?  Anything change that would trigger this for you?

The tips shared by eagerquit and ocean as well as the recognition to self by treepeo is so important.

Keep us updated with your day to day so we can better support you.  One month in is a wonderful achievement.  And you can maintain your quit with awareness and skills.  Of course reaching out to us as we want to be here for you.

    Have  a rewarding weekend!
