Hey everyone. I have quit smoking for over a year but just a few months ago i started dabbling in vaping. I dont vape that often but just recently i have been craving it. So...
I need help to stop vaping . is it the same as smoking?
I am starting this journey again.
my biggest hurdle is to throw out the vape that i bought and the juice.
I M holding on to it because i think i might need it at some point.

Thank you for all your support on quitting. Have a good smoke free day!

    Hi chartippybum,

I can't believe you quit smoking over a year ago.  How time flies.  Way to go!  I know how difficult that was for you.

I don't know much about vaping but I think brieffree is right.  The same principles apply.  You have to make up your mind that you don't want to vape any more and commit to quitting.  The longer you resist it, the easier it will be to let it go.

These darn addictions keep us on our toes, don't they?  No rest for the wicked.  We have to live by NOPE - Not One Puff Ever.  I still get the odd craving and I think I always will.  But I keep refusing to give in, because why would I want to start my addiction all over again?  Our addictions keep tempting us, and refuse to let go.  So we have to remain vigilant and prepared to say no whenever that craving hits.

You can quit vaping, chartippybum.  Believe in yourself.

    Hi Chartippybum,

That's amazing a year without smoking! Congratulations for all the hard work.

Many people have the same concerns as you regarding vaping after quitting smoking cigarette.
Treepeo has mentioned something very important by saying "The same principles apply.  You have to make up your mind that you don't want to vape any more and commit to quitting."

    How?

    1. Exercise.
Even a short walk can do the trick.

    2. Use a distraction.
These can include things like reading a blog, listening to music, playing a game, solving a puzzle.

    3. Set up your environment for success.
Throwing out anything that reminds you of vaping. Make sure your room, backpacks, pockets are free of any e-cigarettes and things you need to vape.

    4. Find stress solutions.
Many people turn to vaping when they’re stressed. Things as simple as deep breathing, drinking water can help you.

    5. Celebrate your accomplishments.
Experts say that recognizing and celebrating accomplishments when you’re quitting can boost resistance to stress and cravings.

What have you done to celebrate your success ?

Chartippybum, if you can quit smoking cigarette, you can get rid of the vape in the same way!

Me too. i quit the cigarettes but not long after that i started to vape. it was once in a while at first then it became more and more. started to eventually look for e juice that contained more and more nicotine in it and havent stopped thinking a quit smoking this is supposed to be better than the cigarettes. NOPE. I started hearing on the news about people getting sick from vaping and it was just words and didnt really get that this is dangerous. The other day there was a report but had more to it. It started off showing a 17 year old and he was on a stretcher in emergency coughing because he could take a breath in and simply his lungs couldnt breath. Was extremely sick from it. Seeing that it hit home and i realised yes this is what position that could be me very well and after i actually saw it it was very real i was uncomfortable even vaping and this evening was it. I dropped the vaping and i am back and quitting the vaping and i know just started but believe me vaping is a dangerous thing. Awesome on quitting smoking! You can do this!

    NOPE
