I have started my quit this morning and almost as soon as I got up I turned on my computer and came to the site. I find reading the posts and all the help here it helps me be stronger and give me ideas that I don't know that can try to help me through the cravings and journey. the cravings this morning weren't too bad as didn't smoke or vape this morning before shower and putting on the patch. I came here and read the posts and felt stronger that I got in the shower and put my patch on for day. I ordered myself a good pair of ear buds so can sit and listen to my music as much as I want and enjoy it. music helps me to distract and at times even though isn't slow or whatever it does tend to help me when am anxious in a craving or am just about ready to pull my hair out. lol. I am also going to start trying to help myself by talking to myself outloud and tell myself can do it. in a post it was suggested and never thought of that. just been telling myself that in my head. I have gum that I enjoy as well. this time I am trying to quit I have decided that will come here and pledge each day to remain smoke free. I am so glad I came here as the strength and advice is so helpful to me as I go through my quit is awesome. at the end of day 1 today as I did or was going to do before I am going to order a movie on VOD that have had in my wishlist for a while now and have fun watching it. happy easter everyone

Hi tiny2018! Happy Easter to you too, thanks!

Thanks too for letting us know that today is your quit date! It's great to hear that you're finding added strength and ideas here on SHL.ca. It's also nice to hear that, along with the support, you have helpful tools (patches) and strategies in place: music, gum, self-talk, pledging to stay smoke-free, and a good movie to enjoy as a reward.

This is an exciting day for you! Please keep us posted, and feel free to reach out if you could use one-on-one support (Quit Coaches are here regular hours today, 9-5 Eastern time, at 1-877-513-5333).

    Best Regards,
    Efram
