   We know you are out there! And here at SHL.ca, we appreciate your feedback and insight into your own personal quit smoking journeys.
   
   If you have past quit attempts that lasted years, what did bring you back to smoking, even after that long? What did that teach you so you are now more prepared for your current quit?

   Jenna I slipped twice after quitting for year each.  Both times I thought I could have just one here and there and I should be... so call the social smoker :) I was wrong... Within weeks I was back to my old smoking habits.....this time I know key is never another puff ever again or else I will be back where I started desperately wishing and wanting to be where I am today... I am only 11 days away from my 2 years in my 3rd attempt. :)

   Jeyan, thank you for your reply. Nice to hear about what you have learned from your experiences: one puff is too many! Hope you do something extra special to celebrate when you reach that 2 year milestone next week!
   
   As well as hearing from people who quit long-term and then went back to smoking, it would also be interesting to hear from those of you who are currently quit long-term and doing well. If you don't mind sharing, what are some of the secrets of your success?

   Good Afternoon,
   
   I am working on triple two day today. That is 222 days smoke free and 7,300 cigarettes not smoked since I quit in March. I have saved 55 days of life according to my dashboard.
   
   Like so many others this is not my first rodeo. I actually quit for 7 years in the 1980's. After a series of short lived quits in the 2000's, I made it to five months in 2016. The problem in the earlier attempts was that I did not really have a plan. I just gritted my teeth and white knuckled it.
   
   When I quit in March, I developed an NRT plan, became an avid reader and contributor to this site, made a list of my reasons for quitting and set up rewards for milestones along the way. I have a five year plan that leaves no room for smoking. Collecting on the rewards has become a passion for me and I rarely think about smoking anymore.
   
   Life is so much better without being a slave to addiction. I wish everyone another smoke free day.

   Amazing achievement, congratulations to you!  As you have confirmed, having a quit plan is so essential.  And your plan covered all the bases with a quit aid, reaching out for support from others, being aware of your motivation to keep the quit and acknowledging all your successes.  Indeed reaping the benefits keeps you quit for the long haul.  
   
   Thank you for sharing what made the difference for you in comparison to prior quit attempts.  Isn't it great how each effort made has brought you to your ultimate goal?  Any attempt is a learning moment as Jenna has shared.  And kudos to you for not giving up to reach your smoke-free life!

   Personally, I never leave, since I reached the site, I was always around, learning and building Confidence. Working trying harder to stay free, cut complete my Bad Habit.
   Nope, I will never, ever go back!
   
   I was deep in the hole and slow I climb up, ones I reach rich the top, just run away. Never look back.
   
   i need support, yes I can not do it alone, I did not do it alone, out there was always one word that push me to the quit zone.
   
   I am Free, but my Gard is high and strong! You all can do it!
   
   Be Free, do not let your Addiction Control you! You are Stronger!
