Hard to believe i made it this far, starting to feel more confidant i can do it this time. I am learning to reach out for help when needed, and hoping that I may in turn help others on this very challenging and doable journey. Thanks to all that have shared their stories.. I am so grateful! I have completed step 1 nic patch and now hav been on step 2 for 3 days. I havent noticed much difference but keep nic gum handy. Havent used it much but it has helped when I have strong urges, and is nice to have a plan B. This is the hardest thing i have ever encountered, but i refuse to look back. I believe we can do this, helping each other on the way, so here’s to another smoke free day!

Thanx Treepeo, have enjoyed reading your posts, always find helpful info. One that has saved me from sliding back into the cig abyss is Not One Puff Ever. That is
my Mantra! Anothr one that sticks in my mind is that i never want to go through that Hell of quitting again, as I feel that i was as close as I dare be in Hell with my 3 or 4 days and nights of insane withdrawel, and then another 2 to 4 weeks of crazy cravings. But i have realized that slowly in the last few days I have started to turn my feeling sorry for myself into real feelings of relief and joy from this tobacco stranglehold! And a whole lot of gratitude for everyones’ help and support. SHL is awesome! Thanks again one and all, coudn’t have done it without you. Here’s to another smoke free day!

Congrats mari_m on an amazing milestone! 45 days - wow!
And thrilled to hear you were able to manage what sounds like a very frustrating few weeks, only to come through on the other side with an incredibly new & positive perspective! So awesome.
    Heres to another smoke-free day!

Hi Sarah, thanks for your encouraging words. I am doing much better, but realize how important to have a plan for those triggers that pop up! SHL told me yesterday about the 3As..Avoid, Alter or Accept. Good to have those words added to my Help Kit. I sure have used the 4Ds a lot, sometimes all at once. I am prepared to do the work that’s needed this time around, as I really want it to be the last time. I am also learning how to smile more, and laugh lots! At first i had to really work hard to make it happen, but its starting to happen naturally. What a great feeling. I like the words someone said ‘don’t look back; that’s not where you’re going’! And to add my own thoughts for today .. lighten up a little, things are looking brighter every day!

    Hi Mari_m,

Your attitude is inspiring, and thanks for the great advice about looking forward to good things. Sometimes when we quit we focus on what we are losing, rather than what we are gaining, and the mind set surely can make a great difference.

Good for you for reaching out to our online community and telephone support to get strategies such as the 3A's and 4D's. Glad to hear they resonate with you.

Here's to positive things to come,

    Jenna Lee

    Hi mari_m

Congratulations on your quit.  You are rockin' it!!!!

You are right, it is tough work, but so worth it.  I also like that you are remaining diligent and keeping a "Plan B" around.  Too many lapses occur when someone does not have a Plan B.  You are very wise to this indeed.

Glad you are enjoying the forum and finding it helpful.  The support offered here has been tremendously helpful in my quit as well.

Ill be where you are in 7 days time (a week). Today is day 38. Im gonna go one more round of the step 1 then move onto Step 2. If its two hard Ill go back to Step 1 again. My nicorette mist spray is almost gone now but I dont think Ill buy another one just yet. Im finding I dont need it as much anymore and when I do use it I dont really like the taste anymore. That will be my Plan B though in case I need it and what with the money Ive saved so far, I can afford it.
My friend wanted to take me away for a hotel break this weekend but everywhere is booked out due to Covid; places taking only a certain number of bookings. Damn you Covid will you ever just go away!

7 days later and here I am.. sitting on the 45 days podium right beside you. I ended up buying another new mist spray from Nicorette. It really helps squash any craving/urge that pops up. today I had an appointment with my doctor.. all good and they were thrilled to hear I quit. Don't have to go back again till May. Was tempted again on teh walk back from there as I used always smoke on the way back.. but held firm. NOPE.

    Hey Dublinguy,
Congratulations, I am so happy for you. You are doing great! It sounds like you are rocking it for sure. hope you give yourself a big pat on the back and a nice reward, you deserve it. It doesn't seem much fun at the start, in fact its the opposite, but  when we see it through, it does get better and better as time goes by. Keep going forward one step at a time and NOPE!!
