I just had a tooth pulled.  The last time that happened I was 15 years younger, and still a smoker.  I remember the first thing I did when I left was to light up, even though they tell you not to smoke.  What a dumb thing to do.  So glad I no longer smoke, because I will heal so much faster, and believe me, that gets more and more important the older you get.

One of my friends needed a dental procedure, and the dentist refused to do it unless she quit smoking.  That's how seriously it can impact the healing process.  I give my friend a lot of credit, because she took his warnings to heart and she did in fact quit smoking.  And she, too, loves being a non-smoker.

Sometimes we need a kick in the pants to get us on the right track.  But it's so much better to do it on your own rather than being forced into it.

    Just some food for thought.

Congratulations on 18 months Treepeo!  I applaud your efforts whole-heartedly!  It must feel great to have so much history between the old smoking you and the new and improved you.  You've been a consistent angel here on SHO and I'm throwing a big cyber hug your way.  Keep on rocking it, girlfriend!

So interesting, treepeo, you were able to compare your most recent dentist visit as a non-smoker to your experience over a decade ago, only to realize yet another benefit of being quit. How cool is that?!
Hope you continue to heal up quickly and are enjoying some of the sunshine today.
    Warmly,
    Sarah

Absolutely Treepeo.  Quitting smoking will significantly improve your dental health.  I am also benefiting from it as I also suffered dental issues as a smoker.

    Hi Treepeo,
constantly reinforcing the reasons you quit and how much better life is sans smoking is a great way to keep on track.
I too remember dental issues and smoking as soon as I left the dentist, and the crazy thinking that goes along with it.  the stinking thinking of addiction.  pushing my luck, my body, my health.
This is a strong reason for me to keep going.  My health.  to help myself stay healthy.  to recover and to give myself a better chance if and when I do have health challenges.  to help my body heal.
One more aspect of the freedom I am enjoying as a non smoker.
    Thanks for sharing
