    Hi Nicci,
I completely understand how you feel. I too didn’t (and don’t) want to smoke but I’ve tried quitting in the past only to go back to smokes. I quit for a year about 3 years ago when I was pregnant and I have no idea why I started again
I will be smoke free for one week tomorrow. It’s so difficult. I think about smoking all the time but I keep telling myself NOPE (Not One Puff Ever).
Best of luck you you. I know we can do this! I’m rooting for you!

    Hi nicci & lesleyaf,

Thanks for sharing! I too struggled with my quits as well, only to relapse & start smoking again! Boy did I feel crappie each time I smoked again! Somehow I managed to remember how much better I felt during my quits - more energy, fresher clean smelling everything, good taste, healthier me & I wanted it back, so here I am again determined to make this quit stick! Love this little saying, goes something like this if at first  you don’t succeed try again!

    Nicci,

Sorry to hear you are feeling down. Cry and being frustrated means that quitting is important to you; that is a good thing.

Another strength is that you have set a quit date. You are ahead of the game!

Good for you for reaching out for support. This is not an easy thing to do. We know that people who have support + a quit aid have the highest chances of quitting smoking.

Us quit coaches and fellow SHL.ca members are happy to support you here,

    Best,

    Jenna Lee

Hi Nicci, I've tried so many times and failed. I've been smoke free for 24hrs!!! I want a cigarette so bad but I breath and find something to do. You can do this, WE can do this! Think positive

    Hi nicci,

Go ahead and have yourself a good cry whenever you need to.  Everything about quitting is hard.  Just the thought of quitting used to make me break out into a cold sweat.  And no wonder.  Smoking is a really powerful addiction.  And unfortunately, tobacco companies deliberately change their products to make them even more addictive.

The good news is that it IS possible to break the cycle.  You have taken two very important steps already, by setting a quit date, and joining this forum.  Trust me, I smoked for over 43 years, and I could not have quit without the people in this forum.

I found it helpful to read through the information on this site and to do the questionnaires.  I had no idea how to go about quitting, and I got some good ideas here.  The thing I found most helpful was to do things to distract myself and keep busy.  Read a good book, try a new recipe, or go for a walk.  Anything to keep your mind on something else.  I also decided to tell my family and friends that I was quitting.  Although it put more pressure on me, it also made me more accountable.

Give it a shot, nicci.  You have nothing to lose, and everything to gain.  And remember that there are quit coaches here who are more than willing to lend you a helping hand, so don't hesitate to get in touch with them.  We are all here to help you.  Believe in yourself.

    Hi nicci,

I agree with what treepeo1 said about crying, go ahead & cry! Quitting is so hard & it’s an emotional journey, that everyone of us has taken or continues to go through at times! I’m rooting for you & wishing you the best with your quit!
