Educate yourself. Learn all you can about the process of quitting, what to expect, the benefits, the ill effects of continuing to smoke, smoking cessation aids (whether its snacks, NRT's, Champix, whatever). I spent a lot of time reading up about quitting, reading stories such as on this site and I really discovered how it isn't just a physical/chemical addiction, so much of it is a mental addiction. I never stopped to think about it that way.
Over many quits attempts my biggest failure was not educating myself on the whole process. 4 or 5 days in and I give in and start smoking again. I was so close so many times to doing it, nicotine was clearing my system and I just needed willpower but didn't understand the stages of quitting.
Even after all my reading up on the whole thing, I was still amazed at some of the truly transformative health improvements of quitting.
