Yay - I'm 6 weeks smoke free! In the next few days I will have not smoked 1000 cigarettes. Think about that!
By about the end of the first month I really started to turn a corner. I feel better, and don't think of myself as a smoker anymore. I still think about smoking (strange but i miss it at times - kind of romanticizing it) and still get the odd craving, but overall I am so happy with having quit.
The most amazing thing is how much better I feel overall. I kept reading about the benefits of quitting, but until I got to this point I could not really understand what an improvement it is. I can go up stairs and not be winded, that cough is gone, I don't stink all the time, my breath smells better, I have a much better attitude to life, I'm eating better, drinking less beer, my skin looks healthier.
I'll be turning 51 next month, but I feel like I've shaved off about 10 years of aging in the last 6 weeks. That is how much better I feel.
