I cut back on the dosage of the patch yesterday. The cravings started getting worse last night and today I broke down crying. I haven’t cried like that in ages. Besides the withdrawal, I miss spending time with the people I care about. We’re all social distancing. I’m hoping that the withdrawal doesn’t last too long. In spite of a rough day, I’m grateful to be smoke free.

    Hi quitfriend,

This is a very difficult time for all of us, but especially for people who are fighting an addiction while remaining socially isolated.  I don't blame you for crying.  You have to find outlets to reduce your tension.

If ever there was a time to quit, it is now.  This virus attacks the lungs.  Hopefully, none of us contract the virus but if we do, we need our lungs to be as healthy as possible.

Hang in there, quitfriend.  You can do this.  Believe in yourself.

When time is ruff, is good to let go......

Take a minute, relax, think and act. We are Non Smokers, we went to worse times! Just get buzzy in something.
    Think positive, nothing is forever!

    All the best

Thank you both so much for the encouragement. I'll try to keep busy and stay positive. NOPE, one day at a time.

Emotions are rampant for many people now because there are so many new normals.  It's a good thing,  you permitted yourself to have that good cry.  Treat it as a cleansing.  I posted this on another person's post as they were struggling with thoughts.  Hope it helps.
Inspirational speaker, Mel Robbins, provides two helpful hints I have used for this and many other things.
    1) When I think of X, I will instead think of Y.  Example:  when I think of smoking, instead I'll think of playing with a puppy.  You may have to write this down until it becomes a new habit.  Or put a picture up of what you what to think about.
    2) Then whenever you think of X, do the 5-second rule.  The minute you think of smoking, stop, count down 5, 4, 3, 2,1 and then think of the new thing.
It's a brief way to retrain the mind.

Awesome work and keep it.  And I think rewarding yourself from the money savings is an awesome thing to do.
I buy myself a bouquet of flowers each week to celebrate my win.
