The first 2 days were the hardest for me. But I am on day 3 on this round. I’ve been smoking for 22 years. Had 3 - 1 year plus breaks.
Right now, the one thing I am mentally doing, is saying to myself how upset and waste it will feel like if I smoke. I know it’s not a healthy way to retreat from a massive craving, so saying something like ‘ I have worked my butt off for this so far, I’m not giving up, I’ve beat so many cravings’ is kinda helping me if I remember to use more positive language in the thinking. I’ve also ‘ ‘slipped’ so many times over the years that I learned that I always feel awful after, and I end up talking myself into the well, ‘maybe it’s not my time to quit’ mentality. So, I’m slowly learning that it is a very much mental thing, you have to cheerlead for yourself, get good support from others, and find your own way of doing it that is individual and works for you and you only.
Keep at it, and count the triumphs as they come:)
