Welcome science_guy.
I think most of us have tried to quit numerous times. I know I did. But this forum was the key to my success. It may sound stupid, but I had no idea how to go about quitting. So I read the information and completed the questionnaires on this site. I learned different tools to use when quitting, like trying to avoid triggers and doing things to distract myself. And I met a great group of people who supported me along the way. I smoked for over 43 years, and I have now been a non-smoker for 4 years. So I am living proof that it is possible to quit and stay quit.
Good luck to you, science_guy, and I look forward to getting to know you better during your quit journey.
