I quit 9 days ago. I am using the nicotine patch. I am trying to keep myself busy and am drinking water from a straw water bottle which really seems to help.

Well done on your first 9 days as a non smoker. Stick with the patches. It is difficult but the effort is worth it.

    Hi jb63,

Welcome to our little community & congratulations on making the decision to quit. Keeping busy, drinking water & taking champix all helped me with my quit. The first 3 days, weeks & months are tough but it does get easier with every smoke free day you celebrate. You just passed 1 week & will soon be celebrating 2 weeks smoke free. Keep going, you got this & we are all rooting for you!

    Hi jb63,

Congratulations on deciding to quit!  And good for you for deciding to use the patch.  That has helped a lot of people to become non-smokers.

I found distracting myself to be really helpful, too, as well as drinking lots of water.  Remember NOPE (Not One Puff Ever).  If you never take that first puff, you will be a non-smoker forever!

I hit 5 weeks today. I went down to Step 2 on the patch. Kind of a rough day. Don’t feel like doing anything. Hopefully this doesn’t last long

Another milestone met. By now you are probably finding the habit is going but you might start getting urges. They can be horrible but keep with NOPE and you will be fine. Well done...

    Hi jb63,

Wow, look at you go!  You are doing amazing!  You should be so proud of yourself.

You are weaning yourself off of the nicotine, and soon you will be completely free.  In the meantime, you must have noticed some of the benefits of being a non-smoker.  Do you find you are breathing easier?  Coughing less?  Isn't it nice to wake up without your mouth tasting like an ashtray?  And how about the money you are saving?  There are so many good things about quitting.

You should treat yourself to something nice.  You deserve it!

8 weeks today. I went down to the lowest patch yesterday. It’s been a rough couple days. I don’t feel like having a cigarette i just have no energy and feel irritated  Hopefully tomorrow is better. Not sure is I should try and get off this patch quicker or just take my time!

Hi jb63.  I can attest to what you are saying.  It happened that way for me also. Low energy, not wanting to do anything, just being lazy. It does come back slowly and surely all will be well and better than before. Keep the faith. that you are doing the right thing by not smoking . Good job, and keep it up/ NOPE works

Hey, jb63! What an accomplishment! Looking back through these posts, I know it hasn't always been easy -- and I hope that you're feeling better today than you were earlier this week -- so congrats on sticking to it!
