Here I am at 97 days smoke-free and I can say that I am now enjoying being a non-smoker.
For the first 3 months I spent a lot of time convincing myself that being a non-smoker was a good thing, all the benefits of not smoking, etc. It was really hard learning how to be a non-smoker.
In the last few weeks I have really started to feel different - I don't think about smoking all the time. It's not who I am anymore. The cravings are fading to more of a passing fancy every so often.
I went from being on this site looking for support, information, and just plain help; to trying to give back to others coming along in their quits. All the while reinforcing in myself my reasons to keep to my quit. This site was such a huge part of my quit.
The first few weeks and months the daily emails and texts from smokers helpline were very helpful and motivating. And joining Breiffree, and others, on the daily Pledge made me reflect on the commitment I was making.
I've decided I'm ready to move onto the next stage of my quit and I won't be logging in or posting as often. I'll probably still check in every once in a while.
Things are looking up for me. I feel good and thankful for having quit.
My stats to date, of which I am immensely proud of:
Savings: $1,365.76
Days Smoke-Free: 97
Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2134
Life saved: 16 days 7 hours 14 minutes
Thanks everyone for all your help along the way.
Andy
