There are various withdrawal symptoms that our body goes
through when we quit smoking, such as headaches, irritability, poor
concentration, dizziness, sleep disruption, mild depression, and tiredness…but
there is one that a lot of people suffer from but don’t talk about it.
Poop – or the lack there of. That’s right ladies and gents,
constipation and cramps are a very common withdrawal symptom. People are always
relieved (in a way) to know that is what has caused the back up.
Nicotine has a stimulating effect on intestinal transit and sometimes
helps bowel movements. When you take the nicotine away, you may experience
constipation as your body adjusts to going without it
It may be worst over the first 4 days, but remember to drink
lots of water, eat a lot of roughage (i.e. fruits and vegetables) and exercise.
