When we are trying to reduce or quit we often are having to deal with cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Other the using delay, deep breathing, drinking water, discussing your challenges with your support, my favorite "d" is distraction. Here are some ideas that can be a distraction but can offer self-care for those days you are struggling:
- Cuddle with your pet
- Take a hot shower or warm bath
- Get a massage
- Sit outdoors and just appreciating nature
- Burn a scented candle
- Listen to music
- Garden
- Watch a movie
- Drive to a new place
- Read inspiring quotes
- Meditate
- Dance
- Stretch
- Take a nap
- Try a new activity
- De-clutter
- Unplug from email, social media for an hour.
