Good morning everyone! It's been a week and a day and I'm breathing easy! One thing I really noticed yesterday was smells. Everything! Whether it was soap, dinner or even the horrible stale smoke smells! I've done so much laundry, it's getting ridiculous! But it smells better!

Question I have for the community was to those using patches to help. Anyone getting extremely vivid nightmares/dreams at night? I also suffer from PTSD and can't put my finger on if its the patches or what?

Stay safe everyone!! Congrats to all who have made their decision to quit! It's not an easy time during a pandemic! ❤

Welcome punnyhippie and congratulations on getting through your first week. It's good that you are recognizing some of the benefits already.

As for your question, many people find that they have vivid dreams while on the patch. Some people don't wear it at night to help avoid the dreams. What I did was I instead wore the 14 mg patch and had a few pieces of 2 mg Nicorette gum through the day. It seemed to help me.

Hope this helps you too. Keep rockin' your quit.

    Hi Punnyhippie,

Congratulations on passing the first week of being smoke free!

Like you said, it's not an easy time with it being a pandemic, but you're doing a wonderful thing for your health.

A common side effect of the patch is to have vivid dreams or nightmares. You are certainly not alone in that. If you're finding that this just isn't manageable you can remove the patch before bed. However, the cravings may be strong in the morning as you've now gone all night without nicotine. So you may want to put a patch on right away when waking. Or we even speak with people who may set an alarm a little early to remind them to put the patch on and then get a little more rest before starting their day.

Look forward to hearing about your journey with quitting smoking,

    All the best,
    Emily
