I see posters for it everywhere in my town. Is it affective? Thx.

    Hi shaniquarter,

    Great question.

Some people have found this method to be effective. At this time, there is not enough evidence for us to recommend it.

A brother-in-law of a close friend does the Hypnosis for quitting. From what his brother-in-law tells me it helps by reinforcing the desire/willpower to not smoke. But that you really need to want to quit to have it work. There is no magic bullet that will make you quit without any effort or withdrawal effects.

I suspect it is no better or worse than any other quit aid out there. If you are motivated to quit, educate yourself about what to expect and follow a quit program, and use whatever aids (whether that is the gum, lozenge, spray, Champix, or even bubble gum or candy) then your odds of quitting greatly improve.

For my quit I decided not to try the hypnosis as I figured if I wasn't motivated then no aid will help me keep quit.
