    Hi turningpoint,

It is encouraging to hear that you are finding the patch helpful.  For so many years, there was no help at all available to smokers.  We were just expected to somehow buck up and quit, with no way of knowing how to quit, with no support, and certainly without any NRTs.  Thank goodness that times have changed.  Smokers now have a real opportunity to quit, and to quit for good, with the help of support, guidelines on how to quit, and/or the use of NRTs.

You were so smart to use the patch, because now you are moving towards your ultimate goal, which is to be a non-smoker for life.  I am so happy for you, turningpoint.   You are doing great, and I love your positive attitude!  Keep the faith, because you can do this!  You are stronger, and far more important, than your addiction.  Kick those butts to the curb.  You don't need them.

    Hi treepeo,

Thank you for being happy for me.  That in itself means so much.  And thank you for your words of encouragement.

I am very fortunate to have had strong support in my quit, and I still need that.  Thanks to all the people who have been there for me.

Best wishes to you treepeo in dealing with all you have on your plate right now.  I know you'll pull through it.

    Turningpoint,

Keep at it. Use the patch, chew gum, whatever it takes. You get through the first few days/weeks and then you can start looking down the road at a much better life where smoking doesn't rule you. 4 months ago I never really grasped what a difference not smoking makes for my well being being. a few of your posts back in those first few weeks really helped me keep my quit, so I'm here to try and do the same for you. The photo of my avatar really tries to convey that sense of freedom I now have. Find your motivation, grab onto it, and don't let go. You can do it.

atp:  Thank you for your support. Your avatar is great and I'm so glad you've found and are loving freedom.  I have found my motivation to stay quit, and that continues to sustain me.  It has been very helpful to read your positive experiences of being a non smoker.  Keep them coming!  And thanks to all the others who have written of the benefits that have resulted from not smoking.
