    Hi yolanda,

Sorry to hear that you had some problems with the Nicoderm patches. Sometimes, the patch doesn’t stick well for different reasons: the use of creams, lotions, sunscreens or moisturizing soaps can cause some problems to keep the patch on the skin. If you are sweating after exercising or if your skin is oily, it can also cause the patch to fall off. They usually recommend to apply the patch to a skin that is clean and dry, non-hairy and non-irritated. Have you tried using a medical adhesive tape over the patch? It might help or discuss this with a pharmacist or doctor, they might have other suggestions. Take care.

I hear you!  I was told to swab with rubbing alcohol first.  But the Step One Patch is huge and still falls off.  Using back up NRT products gets really expensive, but I'd do it anyways to protect you from when it falls off.  You'll find the step 2 and step 3 sizes work much better.  I also heard that the clear patches are worse for sticking, and to use the Nicoderm Brand.  Maybe try using 2 step 2 patches instead of 1 step one?

Update:  I have the small clear patches, but I can't put them anywhere soft and fleshy because they will roll off, even with tape.  So I only put them on bony area's (that don't move).  I've only found 4 spots so far.  On top of each sholder (2), or on the back of top sholder bone on each side, above where the back of your bra would be (2).  Does anyone know why you can't put them on a shin bone or forearem?

    Hi michelle75,

Maybe check out the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region? They do have quit smoking programs but they may or may not include quit aids. If you need their number, you can give us a call and we can share that with you.

Maybe we have some Regina members who can comment?

    Thanks All,
    Lillian

Hi, I have had some problems using the step 1 due to the side effects.
Have since changed to step 2.  I do find the 2 is smaller but the box I opened, the patches come off too easy.   I used white first aid tape to keep them on.
So I put the package in my pocket to warm it up before I put it on, so far that works better. :-)

    Hi Sucess!

That's good that it is finally sticking! We often encourage using medical tape (which you're doing already!), always putting it on a clean area, and even using an alcohol swab before putting the patch on to help it stick!

Thanks Success! Have a nice day,

    Madeleine
