Welcome to the forum,
Turningpoint!
Glad to have you aboard - and it sounds like you've truly made-up your mind about making this your "Forever QUIT"...
There's no sense in me going on-and-on about all the awesome things to come once you've finally QUIT for good, because I'm sure we've all heard it all: That's why we're here!! :)
If I can offer one small piece of advise regarding the "
cravings" (and there will be MANY MANY times where the cravings seem impossible to escape)...
Take each HOUR / each DAY as a separate milestone / a separate "victory", and reward yourself for successfully reaching and overcoming those milestones.
Don't try to look at this "forever QUIT" as weeks, months, and even years where you have to be 'smoke-free'... Instead, concentrate on those smaller, more manageable blocks of time, and then immediately set a new goal for another HOUR, another 4 HOURS, etc. (You'll be happy you did!)
Please come back and post each day (or several times in the day, if time allows)...There's usually SOMEONE around that can serve as a 'sounding post' if nothing else. We all do our very best to support each other, and some require more support than others (I needed constant reassurance during my first 3-4 weeks or so).
We're all eager to hear how you're coping with your QUIT, and posting about what methods YOU have used can really help others in their own journey to become 100% smoke-free.
Remember to lean on the staff members here - they know exactly what you're going through, and they can guide you through your quit, offering a wealth of resources that you didn't know existed!
"If I have just ONE, I'll be right back where I started...Desperately wishing I was where I am today."
