    Hi cec57!

You are quitting smoking cec57 and going through a shift and a change.

Those breakthrough cravings, having a lack of focus and feeling so many things so intensely, they are all part of the process. Your body is now adjusting and healing! It can feel so uncomfortable but really good things are happening on the inside.

Relying on a bit of nicotine to help you get through this is quite alright. Many people have successfully quit by using this method cec57! It is important that you are following a program that works for you and so far, you haven't smoked.

Eventually as you have changed habits and routines and become accustomed to being a non-smoker, you will put that nicotine aside.

Keep on using those 4 d's, review your reasons for quitting and write that gratitude list!

Being free of cigarettes for 2 weeks now is fantastic, congratulations on your quit, I hope that freedom is at the top of your gratitude list, because that is something you've really achieved here.

Way to go cec57, keep us posted!
    Lillian

Yes write your gratitudes, write down your feelings, a memoir of your quit, anything to keep the hands busy and the thought of cigarettes at bay. I think that i had a easier time quitting by just keeping busy on this site and by learning about myself. Once we accept the situation, how we got here and how we have now learned that we can utilize all the tools given us to escape this addiction. , we will do so. Think positive. Picture yourself a year from now, with this journey behind you, a few thousand in the bank, looking and feeling better. You will have gained back some self-esteem and confidence that you thought you didn't have. You are the director of your life, You can have that happy ending. ,

    Hi cec57,

You have two smoke free weeks under your belt.  That is terrific!

I know this journey is difficult.  That is why I told myself I was only going to go through this hell once.  And that is yet another thing that keeps me strong when the going gets tough.

Your body and your mind are going through changes, cec57.  So it's only natural that your feelings are all over the place.  You may be grumpy, or you may be sad.  You might need to have a good cry (or two, or three).  Do whatever you have to do, cec57.  Laugh, cry, write, or go for a walk.  Keep using the patch and the gum.  As long as you do not smoke, you are heading in the right direction.

And remember.  It WILL get better, it really will.  It just takes time, so you have to be patient.

I am rooting for you, cec57.  Hang in there.  You're worth it!
