    Good morning,
I have been smoke free since for 12 days now and since yesterday. I'm using Champix and since the nausea kinda went away, a craving came back with a vengeance. I listen to meditation and hypnosis to fall asleep, I drink a lot of water and oh do I keep busy, but now I find myself tired and just craving and with some stress that just came my way yesterday. Can't seem to shake this one off.

    Hi Me n Freedom,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having some challenging cravings lately.

Stress can be a trigger for a lot of people. Sometimes I find it helpful to ask "how would smoking help my stress?" because often the answer is "it won't". Maybe the craving might go away...for a while. But as we know the craving always comes back when we're smoking.

You've made it to 12 days. That is a huge accomplishment. Be proud of how far you have come and keep using the strategies that are working for you.

We are all here for you if you need anything.
    Emily

    Hi me_n_freedom,

Way to go for holding on.  I know that's not always easy to do.  But you know what?  Each time you resist the urge, you grow stronger, you really do.  You are teaching your mind and body that you can live without all the chemicals in smoke.  And you are learning how to deal with things like stress without smoking.

Sometimes when I was tempted, I would think about my non-smoking friends and remind myself that they didn't rely on smoking to deal with their stress.  They did other things, like going for a walk or talking to someone about their problems.  Both are far healthier alternatives and actually do help to relieve stress.

You are going great, me_n_freedom.  You are almost at the 2 week mark.  Hang in there, you can do this!

    me_n_freedom,

Way to go - almost at 2 weeks!

The good news is that all that nicotine is out of your system! Those cravings are the addict in your head fighting you, but you are proving stronger and as each day passes the cravings will get weaker.

Sleep is a good thing. It helps your body recover, and bonus is you don't having cravings while sleeping!

I remember at about 2 weeks I really started to notice some of he benefits - my cough was going away, was breathing a bit better, my sense of smell and taste were coming back. Was still thirsty all the time and chewing through bags of Nibs....

One thing to start to recognize is that cravings are also partly related to routine. For so many years you probably followed the same routine - coffee/smoke, get in car/smoke, leave movie theatre/smoke, etc. That takes some work to re-train your body and mind. you need to start to learn to be a non-smoker. The 2 week mark is a good time to start doing that!

Congrats on 2 weeks. Thats awesome. i myself am using champix as well. started on sunday and yesterday on day 5 of champix i quit totally of cigarettes as well as vaping. Today is only day 2 for me but i feel good, Cravings are pretty much minimal to none but i know that wont last and will be hit with strong cravings as well at any time so what i have found helpful for the cravings that have popped up is if sitting watching tv or whatever i  will take a deep breath and will focus on it and breath out slowly and it does seem to help after the air is out the craving for most part has passed and if not i repeat it and it helps quite a bit.
