Hi cec57,
Sorry to hear you threw in the towel for a bit. But I get it. Quitting isn't easy.
It's great that you are trying again. You have already realized where you went wrong this time. So you will be better prepared to deal with stress in the future. Quitting is a process, and we learn as we go along. And you are right to remain humble. We can never get complacent, because temptation is just around the corner.
Tonight while watching TV, there was a commercial about quitting smoking. They were showing smokers skulking off on the sidelines while other people got on with their lives. And you know what? Ironically, it made me want to light up a smoke. I don't know why, but tonight I just thought how "great" it would be to inhale some smoke. And then I thought, how stupid is that? But you see, this addiction is so powerful that we always have to be prepared to fight against it. I don't really want to smoke. It was just a fleeting thought that came over me because I smoked all my life, and there is a part of me that somehow misses it. Dumb, but true. So Not One Puff Ever is my mantra and I have to stick to it. And you do, too.
You can do this, cec57. Just take it one step at a time.
