It has been a full year since my last cigarette.  I have not faltered, even once!  My secret was to tell everyone on Facebook - I would really look bad if I failed!  Yes, there are still times when it would be very easy to go buy a pack of cigarettes, but I have resisted.  I would have to answer to too many people, including my husband, who has been super supportive.  If you are just beginning this journey, hang in there!  It will get easier.  My secret was enjoying the extra money I have every month!  You, too,can do this!

    Hi songbird,

One whole year - Yippee!  Way to go!  You are now a non-smoker, and you should be really proud of all the hard work you did to get to this point.

Yes, the extra money is nice, eh?  I treated myself in little ways.  I even bought stuff like fruit that was a bit on the expensive side, telling myself that it was better to pay more for something healthy like fruit, then it was to waste any money at all on cigarettes.

Your family and friends cheered you on, and you fought past all the obstacles and got the job done.  Congratulations songbird, YOU ROCK!!!

Songbird - Congratulations on 1 whole year of being a non-smoker!

It is amazing how much money we save by not smoking!  I, like a lot of other smokers, never really wanted to add up what it was costing each month. Then when I set up my quit calculator I was amazed as i started to see the amount of money i was saving by not smoking.

Here's to many more smoke free milestones for you!

Hello Songbird, so happy for you! what a great sense of accomplishment you must be feeling right now. I'm just a bit over half way there myself, but I don't look too far ahead yet, just taking it one day at a time. I haven't been posting for awhile as  spring is quite a busy time for me as I have a big yard with lots of trees and garden to look after, but it is winding down now and I hope to post once in awhile again. I have always read other posts and it has helped me through some rough times, so thanks for sharing.  - m

Way to go songbird!  I feel ya, I haven't smoked for 473 days and I feel terrific and love the freedom.  Of course, I still have my moments and my triggers, but they are few and far between.
Such a great accomplishment - keep on keeping on!

    Hi Songbird,

Congratulations for your one full year without smoking and it is good to know that you have not faltered, even once! I can see that you are very determined.

I imagine you were very happy to share this good news on Facebook! Well done Songbird because as you said you continue to resist even though it is very easy to buy a pack of cigarettes. It's not worth going back to smoking because many people want to see you continue to enjoy life without smoking and you have received a wonderful support from all of them.

In addition of saving money please note that your heart attack risk drops dramatically after quitting smoking for one year.

What are you planning on doing with the extra money you have each month?

You Deserve a Round of Applause!
