I have lost count of how many times i've tried quitting! I get to a few weeks or even months and then start again. I have not tried a support group before. Would really like some support I so badly wish to stick with it for good.

I find asking for support super hard... feels stupid vulnerable!

    But, here I go!

Together you can do this. Members are here for you and for each other, as they understand what this is all about and what it can feel like.

Keep posting, the community will help you overcome those setbacks.

I can't count the number of times I have tried to quit in my life time, but I think the key to quitting successfully is not to give up on yourself, don't consider it a failure when you slip, you only fail when you quit trying, never quit trying, I know that this is a hard statement to make when your going through bad withdraw, but please believe me when I say that it does get easier.

One of the most difficult things for me is that my partner also smokes. She has not yet quit this time but we have often tried to quit together. Somehow we always end up talking each other into starting again.

I am also on day 1,
I kept changing my quit date, did it 4 times,
I finally threw out all my temptations, leftover cigarettes, I doused in water, all my ashtrays and lighters went in the garbage.
This is my 4th time trying, I have not made even a week.
This time though, I have a good reason to quit. I need surgery and they won't do it till I am nicotine free for 2 months before they will even book me. I have other reasons as well, but this is the one that is giving me the most motivation. Its either quit and not live in pain, or smoke and live in pain. We can do this, all of us, together!!

    Hello everyone!

Congratulations to Schnarps and Good buddy on the first day of their quit, and to Brendahache for setting a quit date!
What sorts of distractions is everyone engaging in throughout their day?

    Have a great smoke-free day!

    Hi  everyone,
I am not setting a new quit date right now, I am going through too much,
even with my quit plans and distractions and replacement candies, gum etc,
I have been struggling wat too much trying to quit that trying to quit is adding extra stress
upon other stresses in my life right now.
Thank you all for your support, and I don't know when, but I will be back.

    Hello Good buddy,

Thank you for sharing where things are at for you right now.  It is so good that you are self-aware.  You are doing the right thing for you as it is not recommended to make changes to your smoking when you have a high level of stress in your life.

Take good care of yourself and please let us know via our email through contact us if we can be of help to provide any community supports to you if needed.  We look forward to hearing back from you here when you are ready.

    Hi good buddy,
Your self awareness is a wonderful thing .You will know when the time is right for you.

I am on day 5 and counting. From past experience I know my biggest challenge is ahead. I know what my triggers are but I have tripped on them in the past in spite of being able to anticipate the challenge. Fingers crossed I wont freak and start again...

Everyone knows by now that I am not quitting right now, but I am still getting emails like they don't know I am not quitting yet. It is frustrating because there is no way to change my quit date on the dashboard except to a new quit date which I am unprepared to set right now. I really appreciate all the support I received while trying and even in understanding why I can't right now. But every email I receive is just a reminder that I didn't make it this time and just makes me feel bad about myself because I didn't make it. Is there any way that the emails can stop coming for now, until I am ready to try again?
