Hi All, i wanted to check in with you to tell you how amazing it is to still be smoke free.. 6 years later!  i quit on May 27, 2013 and it was a struggle as i was a 30 year plus smoker, so most of my life was with a smoke in my hand.  This site helped me achieve my quit as everyone is in the same place.. a smoker trying to quit.
The one phrase i used at the beginning that really helped me was .. there is no such thing as one cigarette.. they only travel in packs.  Every time my brain shouted i wanted a smoke.. i would bring this thought into my head.
Congratulations to all of the new people on this site, and i just wanted to share a success story with you.  i have absolutely zero cravings now.. not even with a glass of wine!
Dig deep inside of you for strength.. reach out to others and you will succeed!!
    Deb.

    Deb,

    CONGRATS ON 6 YEARS!!!!

I like "there is no such thing as one cigarette.. they only travel in packs" I never heard that one before, but I sure can relate...

I'm just past 10.5 months on my quit, and to think back to when I started it seemed impossible, one thing that helped me was reading success stories, such as yours. Knowing it can be done really helps.

    Hi Deb,

It was so kind of you to check in and share your success story with us.  Congratulations on your 6 smoke free years!  Yippee!

I, too, love the phrase you use about smokes only travelling in packs.  How true that is!  I told myself time and again that not only could I not just have one cigarette, but I could not have even one puff ever.  Because I would be forever doomed.  Like you, I was a long time smoker and I have now been a non-smoker for almost 3 years.  So it just goes to show that there is always hope, and quitting IS possible.

Again, thanks for sharing your uplifting post with us!
