hello I am now smoke free 5 days! I have been occasionally using the Nicolette spray. I was just wondering if anyone else experienced cold like symptoms I have a terrible cough and constantly sneeze with a runny nose, almost like allergies though I have none that I’m aware of. Other than that cravings have been a little hard at times but excited to be smoke free!

Hi katrina.lynn and welcome to the forum.

Well look at you - 5 days under your belt already.  Believe it or not, except trace amounts from the spray, the nicotine is physically out of your system.  Quite a milestone on the road to recovery.  Unfortunately, your brain and all of its little receptors are still screaming for just a little more nicotine.  They try to trick you into just a little bit - IT'S A TRAP!!!.  Resist the trap and you will reap the rewards.

Your body is going through a whole host of changes after we quit smoking.  There is no quick fix, it just takes time to adjust.  The symptoms are just as varied as their duration.  Many experience cold and flu-like symptoms.  You are not alone!

Keep that excitement of being smoke-free - it is something to truly celebrate.

Congratulations Katrina Lynn! So nice to have you here with us!

I hope that you're feeling better now that some days have passed. If not, it may be time to see your doctor.

Thank you, efreeman75, for bringing the welcome wagon and for the helpful information. Like you say, the body goes through changes after someone quits. I'll add that those changes aren't easy, but DO show that healing is happening.

Efreeman75, I like how you put it: "Resist the trap and you will reap the rewards."

One of those rewards, btw, is a stronger immune system!

    Best Regards,
    Efram
